Decide on your message
before starting an audio program, image editor or the Quickshow client  program, think about what you want to accomplish and decide on a message.  You’re beginning a multimedia creation process.  If you do not have a message goal then each step will be difficult to accomplish.  If you decide on a clear message, each of the following steps can be accomplished, in sequence fairly quickly and very easily.
Write a script
Your show message can now be translated into a script.  The script will be recorded so think in short phrases and simple sentences. Your script should be about a half a page long to produce a 60 second to 90 second long Quickshow.  Double space between sentences and paragraphs to allow room for audio timing comments.
Print your script
IMPORTANT!  Print your script out on a piece of paper.  You will use your printed script to make comments, timing marks, and to write filenames.
Start Audacity
(available for free download from www.audacity.sourceforge.net )
(or your favorite audio editing program)
Record your script, edit the audio
Plug-in your headset microphone and record your voice message.  The most effective way to record your audio is in one single session.  When you make a mistake, stop speaking.  Pause for three to five seconds.  And then start the sentence again.  At the end of the recording, play the recording, select your best sentences, select and delete your mistakes.  Save your audio file.
Add background music and set volume levels
Select background music, drag and drop it to your audio editor, delete the remaining music if it plays longer than your recording.  Reduce the volume level of your background music.  Save your audio file. Export your audio file as a <filename>.wav  format output.
Note audio timing on your script
Play your audio file, starting and stopping it as you need to, and write down on your script, for the beginning of each sentence, the seconds into the audio recording when the sentence starts.  You will use the use timing marks to coordinate your images to your audio recording.

Select pictures and/or images for your Quickshow

Edit pictures
(you sure favorite image-editing program)
Write your Quickshow image width and height on your script.  Configure your image editor program to the same size that you wrote on your script and will be using later in Quickshow. For example 640x480 or 800x600 or 854x480  etc.  As you load and edit each picture, add text as you desire, clip and crop the image and save a copy in the width and height that you will be using inside Quickshow.
Save picture files

For each picture you prepare for your Quickshow, write the filename on your script next to the location that it will be displayed.  You should now have a printed script that includes the timing in seconds for each sentence, and the image filename that will be used in the show.
